We received an enormous amount of rain in a short period of time here in the Atlanta area on Sept 21. Many people lost their homes and everything they had. A few even lost their lives. We were lucky and received no damage. Our subdivison has a lake that has a dam. For a little while we were concerned with the dam breaking, but thankfully it held. It did however overflow in some areas and wash out the road. Below are some pictures. If you've never seen it, it's hard to know how crazy this was but believe me it was a lot of water!
This is a heavily travelled road outside of our neighborhood. Luckily the heavy rain stopped shortly after we took these pictures and video because the road was about to collapse. Sam took the videos below....Our neighbor/friend/my boss, Angie nicknamed him "Scuba Sam" b/c he was out in the pouring rain forever taking pictures and video. You really can't tell from the pics but it was an absolute pouring of rain. He was sopping wet when he got back in the car. I posted the videos on facebook and didn't realize Sam had commentated b/c my computer was muted.
