Week in Savannah

We came down to Savannah to see Sam once he got back from his trip to Germany. We hadn't seen him in a little over 3 weeks. Mayson was so happy to see her Daddy, Mommy was too. We are spending the week here, a little mini-vacation.

We are thrilled that baby #2 is going to be a boy. Of course we would have been thrilled either way but are excited to have one of each!

Fun with the Andersons

Mayson and I went to Madison to visit the Andersons. It was nice to hang out with family while Sam is in Germany. Mayson loves her cousins and thinks she can do everything they do.

We thought Chace and Mayson were "hair twins"

Playing with the sprinkler

Caeden and Lael on the water slide

Mayson did good her first few times on the water slide but this particular one she got turned around and ended up getting water in her face. If you look close you can see her trying to get a death grip on Caeden on her way down.

Playing on the trampoline

Mayson absolutely loves the trampoline and wanted to be on it all day

No Peanuts for me

Well we found out that Mayson is allergic to peanuts. A couple weeks ago she had a little bit of peanut butter and broke out and started swelling a little. We gave her benadryl and it went down immediately. I took her to the doctor the following week. They ordered a blood test so the next day we went to a lab to have that done. A few days later the results came back that she was allergic. The blood work results were in the low end of the moderate level. Her pediatrician referred us to an allergist. We went there on Monday, he said the blood test is very inaccurate so he did a skin test where they poke her with a three pronged needle thingy (technical phrase I'm sure) One prong is a positive, one negative and one peanut. If the peanut grows it means she is allergic, as you will see in the picture below it definitely grew. The Allergist said she is definitely above what the blood test indicated.
So we now look very closely at every label and carry an Epi-Pen with us at all times. We are blessed that we found out and are able to take some preventitive measures. She won't be able to eat a lot of prepackaged foods like cookies and candy bars b/c most of them share machinery with peanut products. There are definitely worse things to deal with in life so we will be greateful for her being a beautiful, smart and otherwise healthy baby! Hopefully we will never have to use the Epi-Pen.

She got welts and red splotches all over her face, her eye started to swell a little as well

It also went in a line down her stomach

This is the skin test. Top left is positive, top right is negative, and bottom is peanut. We had to wait fifteen minutes for the results. I had to keep her from touching it which wasn't easy b/c from what I hear it stings and burns a little.

The nurse was brillant and brought Mayson in a lollipop, she was thrilled as you can see

Hanging with Daddy

Sam has an inversion table that he hangs upside down on to help his back. Mayson likes to
hang with him, she thinks it's a ride.

4th of July Parade

Our neighborhood has a 4th of July parade for the kids. They decorate their bikes, scooters, wagons and strollers and ride/walk down a few short streets to the pool parking lot. It's a lot of fun for the kids and parents.

On our way to meet for the parade

Almost at the end...Mayson is ready to get out

A day at the zoo

We went to the Zoo Atlanta this week. Mayson had a great time. She loved running through the zoo. She would catch a glimpse at the animals on her way by. She really enjoyed the different playgrounds they had. She was exhausted by the end of the day (me too!).
